IT’S that time of the year again, time for the CHOC Kids Cycle Race taking place this Sunday at Gonubie beach.

CHOC has for years been linked with event companies on this event, but this year they are going solo and is hoping for participation from the public.

CHOC divisional manager Debbie Kleinenberg said it is also a time where the organisation can appeal to the public for funding to carry out their programmes, like parent and child support in the form of transport assistance, bereavement and funeral aid.

“The running costs for the house are very high – water, electricity and food. But we will also use the money raised to assist our families with transport. We also need to fund our awareness campaigns. It is very important for people or parents to bring their children early for diagnosis,” Kleinenberg said.

Entry fee is R100 and each entrant will receive a T-shirt and a medal.

Entries and registration forms for the cycle are available at the CHOChouse in Beacon Bay or you can e-mail them on el@choc.org.za

“We are very excited and we reckon Gonubie beachfront is a very convenient venue for this event. It will be safe because the BCM [Buffalo City Metro] traffic department will be on site,” she said.
