J’Something to celebrate his birthday at The Venue

THE ever-popular, Mi Casa, is in town and will be celebrating lead singer, J’Something’s 28th birthday with the main concert at The Venue at Hemingways tomorrow, followed by an after-party in Buccaneers.
It will not be the first time that J’Something, real name João Fonseca, celebrates his birthday in East London.

The Eastern Cape-born singer has done something similar before, but he vouched that tomorrow’s show will not be like any other.

He will also be bringing down a film crew this time.

“We would like to document the whole party and make a mini movie. The aim is to promote the province, we have never done this before and we just can’t wait,” Fonseca said..

“This time I will have a 20-minute performance with my guitar before the show [at The Venue] starts. People must remember that my career started with a guitar. It is going to be fun,” J’Something said.

Hemingways marketing manager, Neville Austin, said: “Mi Casa has inspired audiences around the globe with their signature soulful sound and unparalleled creativity and have skyrocketed to success locally and internationally. We are delighted to be hosting J’Something for his birthday celebrations”. J’Something grew up in Port Alfred and has also lived in East London and Grahamstown. “There is no other place I would like to celebrate my birthday but at home. I love everything about the province. The people, the beach, weather and just the atmosphere,” he said.

The group’s debut album Mi Casa reached platinum status within six months of release. they have since opened for international acts, Drake, John Legend and Kool & the Gang.

Their sophomore album, Su Casa Mi Casa, went on to become a double platinum seller. The latest album, Home Sweet Home, has produced successful hits including Chocolat, Barman, and Chasing the Sun.

Tickets for the main show are available through Computicket at R150. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.
