Family event a winner

THE Halcyon Bubble Fun Run is back and promises to be bigger and better than last year.
When they celebrated their 25th birthday, Halcyon raised more than R80000 for three local charities, with more than 1400 people entering the event.
The Bubble Fun Run is a way of acting on the Halcyon Groups’ motto “intelligence with heart” according to the group, which explains that, as a group, they are more interested in building relationships with the community than to just make profits”.
This year’s beneficiaries are Breath of Life, Choc and The Kings Children’s Home.
“The Halcyon Group refuse to make any profits off this run , as our main aim is to raise money for the three charities which work tirelessly and often without enough funding to keep the charity afloat.
“Participants are encouraged to look at the bubblerun.co.za webpage and browse through the various charities to find out more about them and then choose who they feel should benefit from their entry,” Halcyon marketing manager Marcel van der Holst said.
There is a limit of 1000 T-shirts available but that should not stop more people from entering and enjoying the bubbles, giant slide, foam pit, face painting, lucky draw prizes and food stalls.
“We have gone with a quality, cost-effective shirt this year in order to ensure our charities receive more money in this tough economic climate,” he said.
The entrance fee is R80 for adults, R50 for children (but age six and under free) and includes a T-shirt for the first 1000 entries.
“We will have some smaller kids shirts and limited edition Bubble Fun Run buffs for sale,” he said.
Participants can enter online at www.bubblerun.co.za or at the Halcyon offices, at 115 Western Avenue, Vincent, on weekdays.
The fun run will be at Beacon Bay Country Club on September 10 at 8am.
“We would like to thank our very generous sponsors Red Alert, Star Centre, Biztec, Frontline and more for making this event happen.
“Everyone’s a winner in this untimed event, as runners run through bubbles at stations throughout the race,” Van der Holst said.
Registration and late-entries will be on September 8 and 9, from 5pm to 7pm, at the Beacon Bay Country Club.
