MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Hundreds of children and needy adults were treated with a hot meal at the Assembly of God Soup Kitchen in Breidbach on Tuesday afternoon. AOG Soup Kitchen convener Elizabeth Appel said the total of recipients have increased rapidly after one of the nearby soup kitchens was shut down earlier this year. ‘We serve soup every Tuesday to more than 450 needy people including children. The reason for the sudden increase could be attributed to the closure of a nearby soup kitchen and the need within our community,’ Appel said. ‘We would like to thank Jowha Technologies, Nicks Foods SUPERSPAR, Boxer and local people who want to remain anonymous for the continuous support towards the soup kitchen as it definitely is making a change to the lives of so many children and people,’ she said Picture: DESMOND COETZEE
