IF YOU have ever wanted to know what it is like to take part in some of the world’s best game shows, you can participate in this year’s Survive the Race in aid of the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) to get a little taste of it.

The event combines TV shows Amazing Race,Minute to Win It,Survivor and Fear Factor into one exciting charity race.
Form a team of six people in a car and dress in crazy outfits.
Each team is given clues to 12 spots around East London, where they are challenged with a variety of team-building activities.
Twelve companies in East London each host a challenge at their premises for which the companies pay R1000.
Started in 2011, to date, they have managed to raised R70000.
Committee chairperson, Jackie Deysel, said they started the race because their close friends and family were affected with cancer and therefore decided to raise funds for Cansa (Cancer Association of SA).
“To families or friends or if a company wants a team-building, this is the most fun event in East London. There has never been a negative outcome, everyone enjoys it,” she said.
In 2011, they had 13 teams taking part. Last year they had 90 teams and this year they are hoping for 100 teams.
Sponsor coordinator, Donnae Rheeder, said every team pays the registration team directly to Cansa and they don’t even see the money. “There will also be goodie bags for everyone and a T-shirt. People should come and have fun,” she said.
The race takes place on February 25 at Python Park. Registration is R450 per team. For more information, call 082-460-2777.
