Happy Hearts creche, school receive books

THE King William’s Town Lions Club have once again brought laughter, joy and happiness to kids and educators in Breidbach following generous donations made on Monday.

Lions members Peter Moses and Nici Naude, made a surprise visit to Happy Hearts Play Ground creche and handed over more than 100 toys to elated teachers and children, before moving on to Breidbach Primary school (BPS) to whom they donated hundreds of reading books.

Moses said they found the items, donated to the club, while spring cleaning their headquarters recently.

“We found hundreds of toys and books which we thought can make a meaningful difference to the lives of many children, hence we decided to donate it to the crèche and the primary school,” said Moses.

Colleague Naude, who accompanied him said: “It was just amazing to see the appreciation on the faces of the beneficiaries, it is something which gives me the courage to continue on this calling”.

A thankful Happy Hearts principal, Daniela Boswell, commended the Lions for always considering their institution.

“The Lions have become part and parcel of us, and part of the family of this institution with their continuous support. This is evident, as the kids know exactly they will receive something as soon as they spot the blue T-shirts arriving,” said Boswell.

She added: “We have no words to thank you for your kindness and generosity, other than to say a big thank you. Keep up with the good work.” BPS principal Ivan Harry said: “Sharing a book is sharing knowledge and we really appreciate the gesture by the Lions from the bottom of our hearts; to consider us for this valuable contribution of books [is appreciated].

“I know and believe this donation will be put to good use.”

Governing body chairperson Deon Alexander shared the sentiments of his principal and thanked the Lions Club for the donation.
