The Centre, where deaf children learn to speak, is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that relies on six fundraising events throughout the year to support their work.

The ladies tea promises to be a fun-filled morning of tea, talk and talent with various craft stalls and demonstrations on display as well as wonderful lucky draw prizes to be won.

The Centre helps deaf preschool children learn to speak through the maximum use of technology and provision of parental guidance. The NPO hosts 16 children and three teachers.

We never turn anyone away at the centre so we need the support of the public to keep going. We have been so encouraged by the progress of the children at the centre,” said Principal and project manager at Carel du Toit, Paula Kumm.

Tickets for the event are R100 per person and are available daily from the Carel du Toit Centre at 1 Cheltenham Road Selborne between 07:30 and 14:30.
