The mountain bike race race includes a 20km, 10km and 2km circuit for young and old alike. There will also be a 5km fun run and French Market.

“The 5km fun run is a new edition to our event and we encourage those taking part to dress up in the French national colours. The best dressed ‘Frenchie’ will win a prize,” Alliance Francaise secretary and cooordinator of the French Market Pat Viaene said.

The French Market will boast a range of French delicacies, cheeses, art, decor, furniture and jewellery. There will also be face painting, a touch farm and pony rides for little ones.

Every year, the Alliance Francaise mimic and recreate the atmosphere of the famous Tour de France at almost the same time that the famous cycle tour is held in Europe. In an effort to do so, previous winners in the women’s and men’s section will wear their yellow winner jerseys and attempt to retain their titles.

“There will also be an opportunity for one cyclist to win the lucky draw for a King of the Mountain red polka dot jersey brought in from France especially for the event,” Viaene said.

The Alliance Francaise is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting French language and culture worldwide, the Tour de Force is but one of the organisation’s cultural events and promises to be an adventurous and happy event for the whole family.

“Last year we had 160 participants and we’re hoping to have 200 this year,” Viaene said.
