PORT Elizabeth-based company Oracle Media recently held a free social media and human resources talk at the Kat Leisure Windsor Cabanas .
Sponsored by Oracle Media CEO Neil Barker, 80 guests were treated to invaluable insights into the world of social media, as well as a delicious lunch.
With GO! & Express as media sponsors, Barker shared his vast knowledge and experience with guests, focusing on Facebook marketing tools and tips.
“Social media is becoming one of the largest online communication channels.
“It is constantly growing and changing and in order to keep up, businesses have to have the necessary skills to use it to their advantage,” Barker said.
He emphasised the importance of positive social media interaction and planning for businesses, specifically on Facebook.
Barker strongly recommended the use of clever videos and visuals to market businesses and services effectively on social media.
“Positive interaction is extremely important.
“In order to run successful social media campaigns for your business, you have to interact with your customers online – you need to educate, entertain, entice and engage with your customers,” Barker said.
“The trick is to keep it simple, yet interesting.
“You have three seconds to catch someone’s attention on Facebook, so very complicated designs and long videos won’t do,” he said.
Barker, a former lawyer, started using different social media platforms to bring in clients and promote his firm.
Realising his natural knack for marketing and social media, he ventured into the media industry.
In July 2015, the Oracle Media Group was officially launched and has since been working closely with businesses to enhance and promote their brands.
This year, Oracle, in partnership with former station manager at Luister!FM, Deon Pieterse, launched their new online radio station, Oracle FM, and new online television station, Your Oracle.
