Muso Matross ready to rock his fans at Legends Showcase

O’BRIAN Matross performs live at Legends Showcase on Saturday at 7pm.

Matross is a East London-born singer, song-writer and record producer whose repertoire comprises a wide genre, ranging from rock, soul-funk, alternative, blues, contemporary, R&B, reggae to gospel.

He is the lead vocalist and guitarist whose line-up consists of a three-piece band with whom he regularly tours.

He has composed a song for jazz, afro pop and multi-award winning artist, Judith Sephuma. The song which is featured on the New Beginnings album, is called Iinkanyezi. The album which Sephuma a South African Music Award (Sama) for “Best Artist of the Year”.

He wrote his first song at the age of 12 for a school project and taught himself to play the guitar. He researched and visited local libraries to gain in-depth knowledge of the electric guitar. It was during this time where he began to learn about guitar icons; Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Chuck Berry, George Benson and the like. He is a versatile, multi-instrumentalist who records and produces his own music and usually plays all instruments on his recordings.
