BUNKERS West Local Football Association kicked off on Saturday at the Hamilton Sports ground with Hamilton Football Club hosting their rivalries, Grand All Stars FC, in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw. Coach and manger of Hamilton FC, Zane Williams, said he was impressed by the boys’ performance but there were some mistakes that need to be fixed.
“We played quite well for a first of the league this year. The players are dedicated and committed to the game and changes we made did make a difference. We were leading in the first half, 2-0. I don’t know what went wrong,” said Williams.
The league consists of 10 East London based teams, including teams from Ducats informal settlements,.
“Hamilton FC is still looking for some fresh talent, so if there are young players in East London that are interested in joining, they are more than welcome to do so. We train at the Hamilton Sports Club weekly . We want to revive the passion and enthusiasm of football back in East London, and I believe there is a potential out there,” he said.
Williams indicated on Saturday, the league will continue with Hamilton FC facing Stars FC and the third team will face Lions FC. The third league game will start at 1.30pm and the main game will kick-off at 3pm at the Hamilton Sports Club.
