What would we do without jeans?
Well, thanks to Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, that is a question which we do not have to worry about.
On this day, May 20, 1873, fashion designer Levi Strauss and a customer, Jacob Davis, obtained a U.S. patent on the process of putting rivets in men’s work pants (made of denim) for the first time.
The rest, as they say, is history. Strauss was also the originator of the iconic Levi’s brand of jeans. – information from www.levistrauss.com
