Cycling and a French affair

The fourth annual Tour de Force took place on a chilly Sunday morning together with the very ‘chic’ French Market at 3 Silos just outside East London. Cyclists including children of all ages entered into the different categories of 20km, 10km and 2km circuit. Others took part in the 5km fun run.

2017 20km Ladies Open Division Champion, Shannon Kirkhoff, defended her title, starting the race in the traditional yellow jersey as is done in France. In a hotly contested race, Kirkhoff won in 01h14, retaining her yellow jersey. The winner of the Men’s 20km Open Division was Ryno Owen coming in at 01h01.

Revellers  indulged with various stalls offering cheeses, decadent delights, décor, furniture and art. Children’s entertainment included face painting and an animal touch farm. The Saunders family were overall “Best Dressed Frenchies” in their striking outfits, complete with berets.
