East London Port will be welcoming a new Harbour Master on July 1 following a series of inter-port transfers by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). Current Harbour Master, Captain Precious Dube, is being transferred to Richards Bay and will be replaced in an acting capacity by Marine Operations Manager Mzukisi Nqwata.
“The complexities in the Harbour Masters function necessitated the strategic movement of Harbour Masters to ensure that we maintain the high standard of service delivery to our clients and meet customers expectations,” said Nozipho Mdawe, TNPA Chief Operating Officer.
According to TNPA, these changes will enable TNPA to fill the vacancy left at the Port of Cape Town when the former Harbour Master, Captain Vernal Jones, was promoted to Port Manager at the Port of Saldanha last year.
