Clicks store staff members and management donated a R5,000 Clicks gift voucher to the DJ Sobey Old Age Home as part of their 50th birthday celebrations on Wednesday August 1.

DJ Sobey Old Age Home is a 24-hour residential care facility that caters for previously disadvantaged individuals over the age of 60. At the time of writing, it accommodates about 72 residents.

According to Clicks CSI Cco-ordinator at Clicks Donna Davids, the donation was part of the 50 charitable causes identified by Clicks as their way of giving back  to the community they serve.

“Seeing the huge need at DJ Sobey Old Age Home is very humbling.

“We are happy to assist where we can and have enjoyed engaging with and helping the residents here,” said Davids.

She added that over the course of the Clicks’ 50th birthday celebrations, a further R1m million worth of reusable sanitary pads would be donated to 16 schools across South Africa to help reduce absenteeism in schools.

A total of another total of 34 projects have been earmarked to receive support through donations of much-needed toiletries, infrastructure and basic essentials.
