Grade 10 Hudson Park pupil, Jordan Fray had the pleasure of harnessing his athletic finesse in a triathlon training programme held in Obernburg, Germany recently.

The 15-year-old went overseas on August 23 and returned on September 2.

“I can’t explain the experience. I’m really so proud of myself,” said Fray.

He was chosen after competing in the SA triathlon championships at Maselspoort, in Bloemfontein in March.

His training regimen includes pool swimming three times a week, swimming in the sea on Saturdays, cycling three times a week with a long 80km ride on Sundays, and running 5km twice a week.

His grandmother, Yvonne Fray, could not contain her excitement.

“I’m so proud of him, I can’t even begin to explain it. This is the second time he’s been selected to go on training,” she said.

Fray added that he’d like to take part in the next Tribal Triathlon Series and compete in the sprint distance which is made up of a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run.

“I’d love to continue with the sport and motivate other kids to compete in triathlons,” he said.
