The Pick n Pay- sponsored Sunset Bowls Tournament came to an end last week Thursday and was won by the TNT team of Josh Turner, Andrew Lentz and Ethan Grunewald, all Dalians.
Sunset Bowls is staged twice a year at the King Bowling Club and is always well supported.
For the first time in many years, rain mercifully stayed away.
Two games of seven ends were played over four of the five Thursdays, with the final consisting of one game over 11 ends.
Commenting on their win, skipper Turner said: “We had some tough games but we managed to pull through so well done to my team.
“This is the first time we won it and we are looking forward to defending our title.”
At the prize-giving, King Bowling Club president Gordon McCune thanked all businesses who had entered teams, as well as the main sponsor, Pick n Pay.
“I am also grateful to all those club members who worked so hard behind the scenes, especially convenor Rhona Westman and her husband Chippie, who did the scoring.”
Rhona said: “I think the event was again a success. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the bar did well.”
The next round of sunset bowls is gets held in March 2019.
