Swimmers and spectators can look forward to fun in the water at Wriggleswade Dam on February 17 for the 17th edition of the annual Merrifield Mile, the biggest open water swimming event in the Border region.
The KFC Merrifield Mile is a marketing event for Merrifield Prep School and College which celebrates its 22nd year of existence in 2019.
“This year, KFC have come on board as the main sponsor as it continues to grow in stature and prestige.
“I am very proud of Merrifield School, to be able to host an event of this nature. The Mile has grown from a vision 17 years ago to an event of +- 1,000 swimmers and 4,000 spectators,” Merrifield Mile event organiser Tracey Mangold said.
“Our dream to grow the Mile has been made possible by the support from our team of sponsors and the involvement of the Border community.”
The KFC Merrifield Mile is made up of four events: the flagship 1.6km swim, the 500m Dash, a 250m race and a fun “splash” for children under the age of 8.

It is always a great day out for the whole family on the banks of the beautiful Wriggleswade Dam, and this year looks set to be more festive than ever.
