A resident of Connaught Avenue in East London, who asked to remain anonymous, is claiming that BCM has failed to check their water meter for a number of years. When the GO! & Express visited the meter, it was buried under at least 15cm of soil which the resident then dug out themselves.
They first became aware of the problem when they decided to check the meter after one of their taps sprung a leak.
“Even if you try phoning [the municipality], they don’t answer their phones,” the resident said.
BCM did not respond to questions sent by the GO! by print deadline.
