According to Dramsoc, the event aims to “take you on a journey back in time” and will feature music from famous classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Massenet, Verdi, Puccini, Rachmaninov and Bizet.

“This music gives the listener a view into the past, it transports you back in time to hear the music people enjoyed 100, 200 and even 300 years ago, where the popular and most entertaining thing to do in the evening was to attend a grand ball with gorgeous dresses, live music by an orchestra and dancing,” said Dramsoc.

“What can be said with certainty is that without all the creativity from these musicians and composers of yesteryear, we would not have the diversity, creativity and excellence in music that we have today.”

The concert will feature a number of local performers, both instrumental and vocal. These include:

  • Esther-Joy Cloete (violinist)
  • Jorndan Blundell (trumpeter)
  • James Fletcher (clarinettist)
  • Jo Stemmet (pianist)
  • Pieter Taljaard (pianist)
  • Alison Hillstead (vocalist)
  • Renate von Weber (vocalist)
  • Celeste Kesner (vocalist)
  • Chule Novukela (vocalist)
  • Anastasia Mamaeva-Catanho (vocalist)
  • Larry van der Merwe (vocalist)

Accompaniment will be provided by Jo Stemmet and Pieter Taljaard.

Tickets are R50 per person and the show starts at 6.30pm on both days. To book your spot, WhatsApp 081-731-5166
