New Generation Primary celebrates World Read Aloud Day with Nal’ibali through joy of reading
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 was World Read Aloud Day (WRAD)
In an effort to promote literacy by reaching 3 million children and to sign up 1 million families, Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s a story”) encouraged thousands of schools and families across South Africa to celebrate the day by jointly reading a special story entitled “Party at the Park” by Mabel Mnensa. (Nal’ibali now reaches millions – GO! & Express, January 27 2022).
New Generation Primary School held a WRAD assembly where a few of the school children read the story to the Intermediate Phase.
The GO! & Express recently announced the launch of a campaign to assist New Generation Primary School as the learners are generally from poverty stricken homes and in dire need of assistance of new or used stationery, casual wear and school wear in the form of white shirts, shoes and boy’s grey shorts.
The children are aged between 7 and 14 years of age.
If you would like to contribute, you can drop off the items in the boxes marked with the GO! & Express logo at any of the following places:
