Hudson Park High School’s music department is set to showcase A Wonderful Christmas at the school’s Gibson Kente Theatre next month.
Vocals teacher, Nasine Van Rensburg, said it would be a fun Christmas spirit-filled show for the whole family to enjoy.
“The show is about Christmas festivities and the spirit that comes with the festive season.
“It is a celebration of the favourite time of the year through music, which is something that brings everyone together.
“It was the brainchild of [teachers] Mr Wesley and Mrs Lisa Wong, who dreamed up and put together this incredible show,” said Van Rensburg.
The production includes 20 present and past pupils, as well as music department staff.
Staff from both the high and primary schools have contributed their time and energy to ensuring the showcase is a success.
Rehearsals for the show started in the third term, but the combined rehearsals only began two weeks ago. Audiences can expect unique renditions of popular and traditional Christmas carols and songs sung by the talented vocalists, led by Van Rensburg, and backed by an incredible band under the musical direction of Wesley Wong.
“The stage has been transported into a winter wonderland Christmas extravaganza, so it is an absolute feast for the eyes as it is a visual delight, especially if you love all things Christmas. So many staff from other departments were involved in the decorating as well.
“It truly is a massive effort from the entire Hudson community. The significance of the show is to highlight the importance of the Christmas spirit and to come together as a community to celebrate what Christmas is,” said Van Rensburg.
Grade 8 pupil Miya Gugushe, who is a part of the show, said she was excited to show off all the hard work the team had put in.
“Being part of this show has been a great honour and privilege, especially having done Frozen this year with Mrs Van Rensburg as well, so I feel honoured to have been chosen.
“It has been hard work, but so worth it,” said Miya.
The show is on from December 2-4.
Tickets can be bought directly from reception at the Hudson Park High School and will also be available at the door on the show days.
Tickets are R80 per person and R50 for pensioners and pupils.
