The Mdantsane Creative Hub is preparing to host the Indibano Arts Festival on December 10 at the Mdantsane Community Arts Centre.
The fun event is aimed at providing Mdantsane youth and families with the opportunity to enjoy a creative arts experience with a full day’s program packed with music, dance, drama, poetry, reading sessions, and a fashion show.
There will also be jumping castles, indigenous games, and prize giveaways.
The day will also include food and snack stalls, all of which can be accessed for an admission fee of R20 per adult and R10 per child.
Indibano means ‘gathering’, and as such, the day will allow artists to join in one space to embrace their talents.
One of the event facilitators, Cinga Dyala, said the day would provide a safe entertainment space for the whole family.
“People can expect a family-friendly event that will be filled with lots of games and stalls for people to indulge in fun activities and good food.
“It is a safe and comfortable space for families to hang out and enjoy the beauty of art, from performances to hand-made craft,” said Dyala.
The event is being made possible through funds donated by the Eastern Cape Community Arts Centre Association, in collaboration with the department of sport, recreation, arts & culture, which recently supplied the center with equipment for artists.
The center’s vice-secretary, Siyasanga Nyembezi, said the festival would also provide a platform for young upcoming artists to showcase their talent.
“In the lineup, we have award-winning artists like Mandilakhe Lufundo who won the Best Actor Award at the Arts and Culture Awards, Mark of the Wolves Dance Crew who just won a Redbull Dance Competition, the World of Art Band that won the Top Achiever Award from Business and Arts SA, the Ghetto Musical Theatre Group that won an Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival,” said Nyembezi.
