Border Indoor Cricket hosted the SA touring team for the first time in years, in an exciting day-long series across various divisions on February 22.
The games launched Border indoor cricket back into the local sporting arena after 16 years of dormancy.
Representative for Border Indoor, Debbie Rowe, said that the Border sides gained both skills development in a more advanced level of the sport and increased team synergy through hosting the SA side.
Border U/21s made 84 against SA U/21’s 86 and lost by 2 runs.
Border O/50s made 55 against SA O/50’s 112 and lost by 57 runs.
Border O/30s made 25 against SA O/30’s 62 and lost by 37 runs.
Border O/40s made 64 against SA O/40’s 66 lost by 2 runs.
Border Opens made 21 against SA Opens’ 86 and lost by 65 runs.
Rowe said, “The challenge was to learn to play at a higher level than ever before. Some of the players had to change and adapt to the way they normally play.
“It was also a challenge to get rid of nerves while playing against some of the best.
“Two of our Border teams lost by only 2 runs against SA and getting wickets against SA is a big moment, as is scoring runs.
“But an important favourite is also having the support and comments from the SA players on the side.”
Following the East London tour, the SA indoor side travelled to Gqeberha to play Eastern Province and Cape Town to play the Western Province on February 25-26.
