The Ahlschlager family was hit with a terrible blow when Selborne Primary School teacher Sarah was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma cancer and is now faced with many months of treatment and a high hospital bill.

Super Card and Selborne Primary School are collaborating on a charity golf day on Saturday September 30, at Olivewood Estate Golf to assist the Ahlschlager family with their financial responsibilities.

With the support of her husband Warren, and her two sons, Ahlschlager has undergone six aggressive chemotherapy treatments so far.

“We have no words to express our deep gratitude and thankfulness for those who have chosen to bless us during this time. We do not plead or expect this monetary blessing.

“Partner with us in prayer, silently, before you make any decision to proceed with any donation. Take 20 seconds to pray for strength, health, peace, endurance and longevity for our beloved Sarah, our boys and myself,” Warren said.

Many of the hospital expenses are not covered, including the blood work, pharmaceutical expenses and scans. On top of the six months of treatment Ahlschlager has to endure, there are also the added expenses of the regular checkups that will follow in the years.  The family has also been receiving assistance in the form of food donations and money from the public through platforms such as BackaBuddy and Take Them A Meal.

Super Card is a financial solution that provides consumers with an electronic stamp system through various cards.

Nikita Grieb of Super Card said the company was doing their part to assist one of their own, and planned to do more in the future.

“We are doing our part to help Warren and his wife during this tough time. Warren is one of our employees and we want to give them a helping hand.

“We plan on carrying out similar projects in the future to help more people, especially teachers. We need to raise as much as we can as the expenses for the family are mounting up. Our goal is to raise as close to R150,000 as we possibly can.

“It is a way in which the community can stand together and to show that we care for those around us,” Grieb said.

To support, you can register for cart, packed lunch, and complimentary eats for R3,000 or sponsor a tee for R2,000 or a green for R1,000. An auction will be held as another opportunity to raise funds.

The little ones will get to enjoy a jumping castle in the afternoon. For info contact the team at reception@sabiss.com.
