This week we chatted to Chantal du Toit, who gains satisfaction from selling food as a means of providing for her young family
Q: What services or products do you offer?
A: I sell mince vetkoek. I make plain mince, curry mince and chicken mayo vetkoek.
Q: When did your business start? What inspired you to start this business venture?
A: My small business idea started in the beginning of September this year. I do it as a way to provide money for my twins.
Q: Do you have official culinary experience? What experience do you think is necessary for this line of work?
A: Experience needed is knowing how to cook and in being a people person.
Q: How many people do you currently work with?
A: I work alone at the moment.
Q: What satisfaction do you get out of doing the work?
A: Satisfaction is being able to provide in our home with the profits I make.
Q: What makes your business stand out from other similar businesses in the area?
A: What makes it stand out is I’m just a mother trying my best.
Q: Who would you say is your target market?
A: My target is to be able to sell to everyone and anyone.
Q: What are some of the goals that you are currently working towards?
A: My goal is to make life a little easier for me and my family through my business.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone interested in starting their own business?
A: My advice is, if you set your mind and heart on something never give up. Hard work will always pay off at the end of the journey.
