We chat to Sigqibo Maci about his approach to running his business, Jojo Cleaning Services.
What services do you offer?
A: We offer residential and industrial cleaning services. We focus on roof, pavement and driveway, and concrete surface cleaning. We also clean carpets, sofas, chairs and mattresses.
When did your business start?
A: We started in July 2020.
What inspired you to start a business?
A: I had finished my qualification in public administration but spent 2020 at home unemployed. One afternoon, I decided to clean the garage and found my dad’s pressure cleaner. In 2022, my business partner Avela Ntulwena joined and bought a share in the business.
What satisfaction do you get out of doing the work?
A: We believe that for a house to be a home, it needs to be clean. No good memories can be made in an unhygienic space. Knowing that we had a hand in helping you create those memories gives us satisfaction.
What makes your business stand out from others?
A: We are cautious of the level of services we provide. We are not so much about the cheque but more about the smiles we leave on our clients’ faces. We deem a referral more valuable.
Who is your target market?
A: Anyone who is in need of our services, both rural and urban.
What goals are you working towards?
A: We would like to acquire more machinery so we can increase our human capital and reach more people.
What advice do you have for anyone interested in starting their own business?
A: Be driven by customer satisfaction, rather than money.
