Every round delivered intensity and drama, keeping supporters on the edge of their seats throughout the day.

In a surprising turn of events, defending champions Gary Thorne and Jenny Milne fought valiantly but ultimately finished in an impressive third place.

However, it was the dynamic duo of Luke Groep and Linge Steenkamp from Bloemfontein who stole the show.

Dominant, composed, and clinical under pressure, they were simply exceptional from start to finish.

Their victory not only secured the Valentine’s title but also set an incredibly high benchmark for padel in East London going forward.

Their performance was a true masterclass.

Adding further prestige to the occasion, the Most Valuable Player Award was deservedly presented to Steenkamp.

In even more exciting news for the local padel fraternity, Steenkamp will be settling in East London.

In addition, Steenkamp will be actively coaching padel in East London, sharing her expertise, experience, and high-performance insight with aspiring players, helping to accelerate the growth and competitiveness of the local game.

Tournament director Veeran Naidoo expressed immense pride in the success of the tournament, as well as in the spirit in which it was played.

He said the event was a fantastic advertisement for the sport, showcasing not only the growing standard of play but also the unity and passion within the padel community.

“Their continued belief in what we are building for padel in East London makes events like this achievable.

“We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to the growth of the sport,” Naidoo said.

He thanked Red Ant Relocation and Eviction Services, Build World Construction and Projects, Vincent Hardware, Mr Windows, Abbotsford KwikSPAR, Hemingways Casino, Sports and Awards, Beacon Bay Padel Park and Bargains, which all sponsored the tournament.
