Cambridge High School’s Music Department is celebrating remarkable success following the annual Port Rex Lions Eisteddfod held earlier this month, with both the Concert Band and Jazz Band earning prestigious Gold awards. Recently, the school’s Concert Band achieved a Gold award for its outstanding performance — marking the first time in many years that the ensemble has received the coveted recognition. The achievement reflects the dedication, discipline and commitment shown by the learners, many of whom regularly sacrifice their break times to attend sectional rehearsals and perfect their performances. Adding to the celebrations, the Cambridge High Jazz Band also secured a Gold award in the Contemporary Solo Ensemble category on Thursday evening for their moving rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon. The accomplishment carries added significance as the Jazz Band was only revived last year. The Music Department expressed immense pride in both ensembles, praising the learners for their hard work, teamwork and passion for music. Their achievements continue to embody the school’s motto, Non Vobis. Picture: SUPPLIED
