KuGompo City fitness enthusiasts and families are in for a vibrant celebration of fun and community spirit when the Calvary Colour Run takes place at the Old Selbornians’ Ostrich Field on Saturday.
The family-friendly event promises a colourful day packed with entertainment, healthy activity and community engagement for participants of all ages. Gates will open at 8.15am, with the much-anticipated colour run getting under way at 10am.
Calvary youth pastor Sphiwo Mchunu told the Go! on Tuesday preparations for the event were well on track, with organisers ready to welcome hundreds of participants. “Preparations for the event are going well. Things are in order and in place,” said Mchunu.
“Participants can begin collecting their race armbands from 8.15am on Saturday morning, while the actual route will be open from 10am until noon.”
Entries cost R100 until Friday, while late entries on the day of the event will be R120.
There is no official closing date for entries, as tickets will also be available at the registration desk on Saturday morning.
Those wishing to register in advance can also do so through the event’s online booking platform.
Dubbed “More than just a colourful run,” the event is designed to bring families together, promote healthy living and create meaningful connections within the community.
Beyond the colourful course, visitors can browse a lively market featuring more than 20 vendors offering a variety of food, drinks and locally made products.
“People can expect jumping castles for the children, live entertainment, music, great food and a fantastic social atmosphere for the whole family,” Mchunu said.
“And, of course, everyone can look forward to the excitement and joy of the colour run itself.”
Mchunu encouraged residents from across Buffalo City to support the fundraising event, saying it offers an ideal outing during the school holidays.
“We encourage the community to come out and support this fundraising event,” he said.
“It presents a wonderful family activity for the holiday season.
“People can still buy their tickets online or register on the day for R120 before the colour run begins.”
With a vibrant mix of colour, music, family entertainment and fitness, organisers are confident this year’s Calvary Colour Run will once again paint KuGompo City in a celebration of unity and fun.
