COMEDIAN Skhumba Hlophe makes his way back to the city next Friday with his one man show #1stOfAll.
The show focuses on his life story – and life in the township.
The last time Hlophe was in East London last year, he did the #ItsAShubile show at The Venue at Hemingways – the same venue for next week’s show.
Hlophe is an acclaimed comedian who has been touring across the country. His off-beat humour often takes his audience by surprise and will sure have patrons rolling in the aisles at his East London gig.
The Tembisa-born comic is one of the wittiest comedians in the country and a rising star in the South African showbiz industry.
“We are delighted to welcome Skhumba Hlophe back to Hemingways,” the venue’s marketing manager, Neville Austin said.
“The last time he was on our stage, he had his first-ever and highly successful one-man show.
“His shows are always a crowd-puller and we don’t expect any less with his new showcase,” he added.
He has audiences under his spell on Kaya FM’s Breakfast Show every Friday morning and on SABC1 for his talk show #TBTon1. Last year Skhumba ’s hard work bagged him a Savannah Comics Choice award in the Flying Solo category.
Hlophe, who is looking forward to the show said: “I will be on stage for like an hour or more and people will enjoy my jokes, I can guarantee that,” Hlophe said.
The doors for next Friday’s show at Hemingways open at 7pm – with the proceedings kicking off at 8pm. Tickets are R150 per person and available at Computicket.
