The competition is an all- styles championship held annually at Sun City for dance groups from around the country. Dancers taking part in the competition will compete in all dance styles including; hip hop, popping, street dance show, freestyle – and much more.

The East London dance group and winners of the Ultimate performer, Jo Jackson Dance Co, in their section for three consecutive years, will be battling it against some of the best dance crews in South Africa.

The company has been running since 2001 and took a break from the competition scene but started again three years ago, coming back with some great wins and making history by having the highest score to be ever awarded in the Ultimate Performer competition.

The Ultimate Performer, held recently with GO & Express as a partner, is an East London talent show held every year to showcase the gifts that the city have and to give them some needed stage time.

“We are leaving on Wednesday 26th April [today] for the prestigious Battle of the Giants competition where we are hoping to come back with some great results. We practice for about six hours a week on our hip hop large group routine. We are hoping to qualify again for the World Champs with a top three placing,” dance group founder Jo Jackson said.
