Entries open for the 17th Lilyfontein Adventure Race

ENTRIES for the 17th Lilyfontein Adventure Race have officially opened, inviting all adventurers to take part in this multi-disciplinary event.

The race is scheduled to take place at the Jikeleza Festival at Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve on the East Coast Resorts Road, East London on 1 and 2 September.

Entrants can participate in teams of two or four and are required to navigate through several activities comprising of hiking, running, paddling, cycling to name a few. Participants will be tested mentally and physically while aiming to reach specific check points along the way.

The event attracts over 400 participants from the ages of seven to 70, every year. The various categories such as school, corporate and family/fun offer a range of routes varying in difficulty.

The event is also the regional qualifier for any schools teams wanting to go to the SA Schools Adventure Racing Championships

“Each year the team puts together at least 6 different routes. Each is unique and offers its own variety of terrain and scenery and is only available to participants of the Adventure Race. The aim is to expose people to the sport of Adventure Racing and to promote our local East Coast Resorts area,” said Lilyfontein’s Caroline Kruger.
