In previous years, Luff has insisted on blessing those around her instead of receiving gifts on her birthday.

“I’ve always felt blessed to have pretty much all I need, so instead of people bringing me gifts on my birthday I decided to use my birthday to bless someone or something else,” said Luff.

In 2010 Luff used her birthday to raise funds for the Arts Theatre. Luff created a beautiful show whereby the proceeds of the ticket sales were used to purchase fans for the Art’s Theatre.

Her next big birthday bash was aimed at helping Kirt Ruiters, a dancer who received a bursary to attend the Water Front Theatre School.

“All the funds raised were used for Kirt’s rent for the first six months in Cape Town. It also kitted him out with dance attire and shoes,” said Luff.

“Helping him pursue his dream is the best gift I could have ever received.”

This year is no different; Luff’s son, Kaylib, has been given a wonderful opportunity to go on an exchange tour to the UK with Stirling Primary.

“We will do almost anything to be able to give our children anything and more. This is a once in a lifetime experience for Kaylib so I’ll do whatever I can to make his dream come true,” said Luff.

Though this is a wonderful experience, it is one that also comes at a great cost and requires funds that Luff and her family cannot come up with on their own.

In order to raise the funds needed, Luff has put together another entertaining show and requests that instead of gifts, audience members bring R100 as her gift, which will go towards her son’s trip.

Luff will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the Down Syndrome Association.

“The more you give, the more you get I believe,” said Luff.

Audience members can expect a versatile show with performances from Kerry Hiles, Daniel Anderson, Marc Williams, Lauren Brownlee and X Divas as well as solos from Jo Jackson Dance Company’s Jayson Jegels and Gabby Machado, to name a few.

The show offers performances in nearly everything, from singing to Belly dancing and it promises to be a talent filled and fun show for the whole family.

Luff’s 36th Birthday Celebration Show will be taking place tomorrow night at the Arts Theatre.
