ONCE upon a time in the enchanted forest, a magical event had been planned and children from across the land were invited to dress up for the fun occasion.

This is the theme for the most anticipated day ever for East London kiddies, The Best Kids Day Out Ever.

The kiddies’ event, hosted by Princes Lodge in Vincent, will take place on Saturday and promises to be an awesome afternoon filled with entertainment and fantasy.

The entry fee includes photos in a fantasy photo booth, a concert by Legends School of Music students, a book reading by local children’s author Dick Latimer, a storytelling session by The Puppet Lady, and much more.

“All this fun can’t happen without having a big heart and giving back.

“We have connected with Choc at the Paediatric Children’s Ward at Frere Hospital to collect your new or used books and DVDs.

“We also have a platform for young artists with our art competition. Please support our young entrepreneurs’ corner where they will be using our event to build on their skills,” organiser Sam Ramsay said.

Comedian Rob van Vuuren and his wife Dani Bischoff will be doing a mini kids show of their beautiful book Florence Watson and the Sugar Bush Mouse before they head off to the Grahamstown festival to do their shows.

Ramsay would also appreciate sponsors and donations of books and DVDs for the children at Choc and the Frere oncology ward.

“No matter how small, it will all make a huge difference. This is the biggest risk I have ever taken in terms of financially outlaying for the overheads and after I cover these costs with the takings at the door, the excess raised will go towards the charity,” she added.

Penny, the PnA mascot will be celebrating the day with the children between 1-2pm and also handing out some prizes.

Visit the Princes Lodge Facebook page for more details.

Entry is R55 for kids (parents free). The first 30 kids will have their faces painted for free.

The event will be at  7 Princes Rd, Vincent Park.
