FOOTBALL development is on the rise after a local club hosted an Mdantsane-based side and kept an unbeaten run in three games played recently.
The action kicked off with the Warriors U10s playing to a 2-2 stalemate against Entertainers, followed by the U12s winning 3-2. The U14s were too strong for their opponents in their 4-1 victory.
All games delivered mouthwatering action which brought the crowd, consisting mostly of parents, to their feet.
Warriors’ manager Roxanne Monk praised her charges for their gutsy performances and attributed their success to the hard work, commitment and dedication put in by her coaches and the players. “We are working hard on the training field and the boys are giving their full cooperation, but we still have a long way to go,” Monk said.
Head coach Cedric Gysman echoed her sentiments, adding that his boys enjoyed playing against opposition from other areas and will always give it their best.

“We travelled to Dimbaza the previous weekend and won three of the four games played, so if you want to see them at their best, just invite any team from any other area,” Gysman said.
The visitors were stunned by the hospitality of the hosts and commended them for doing a brilliant job with the development of the youngsters.
Entertainers coach Siyabhonga Sigonyela said: “We decided to spoil them with this tour and in the same way use the opportunity to test our strength against opposition from another area,” Sigonyela said. “I am impressed with what I’ve seen and experienced here today after so many parents have come to watch their kids playing and the refreshments received from these club officials were just amazing.”
