THE 2017 Rhino Run was a great success, raising R24500 through the sale of tickets, for the coffee and boerewors stand, and the “win a lamb” raffle. The proceeds raised have been donated to PAWS.
PAWS is an African Wildlife Fund. Rhino and elephant poaching have reached epidemic proportions in Africa, and PAWS is here to try and help fight the scourge.
PAWS is a non-profit, non-government assisted organisation based in the Eastern Cape. It was formed in November 2011 to assist in the raising of funds towards the protection of Africa’s wildlife.
“The main focus of the foundation has been, in recent months, the supply of both funding and equipment i.e. rhino monitoring equipment as well as anti-poaching equipment for various reserves in the Eastern Cape,” Rhino Run organiser and owner of Ashmel Spar, Delicia McNamara said.
“This year’s funds raised from the Rhino Run will be donated to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and the Kariega anti-poaching unit – both of which are deserving organisations,” she said.
If anyone would like to donate or help any way towards this foundation, please contact Gavin De Lange (founder of PAWS) on 076-801-6888, or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org
