Cricket bug bites young players at Advance for Life

ADVANCE for Life Christian Academy was invited to participate in the KFC Mini Cricket at Merrifield in March this year.

“We had never played the game before, but we downloaded the rules and regulations and had some days to prepare a team of under-9 boys,” said the school’s public relations officer and team coach Nolubabalo Nxomfo.

“The boys enjoyed it and we have not stopped playing since then. We now have an U11 team as well and have been practising since August.”

On September 11, the team met former South African cricketer Makhaya Ntini who took over the day’s training session.

“His presence was a true blessing as it improved the players’ interest. The training was also more serious and changed how we do physical fitness sessions.

“The boys’ batting and ball skills have improved since his visit.”
