EAST London’s songbird Tyra Aaliyah Bowles will jet off to Orlando, Florida next year with hopes of bagging a record deal with the biggest record labels in the world.

The 15-year-old Stirling High pupil and aspiring singer was scouted at this year’s Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS)International Showcase hosted on October 6 and 7 at Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp.

The ARTS showcase is an annual event held in Johannesburg which brings various talents from all nine provinces together to display their performance abilities to international talent scout Kim Myers for an opportunity to represent South Africa at the ARTS in Florida.

Bowles started singing at an early age and with her mother a singer in her own right and her father a deejay, she was destined for a possible career in the music industry.

At the age of 15, she has quite a number of singing awards to her name. She performed the opening act for Cape Town band The Rockets at the Guild Theatre and her next show is scheduled for December 3 at the Guild Theatre.

“Going to Florida next year is going to be a great experience for me and provide great exposure for my career. I hope that I get signed to a record label. I would like to open a place to develop talent in East London,” Tyra said.

She, however, needs financial support to get to the US and as part of her fundraising, she is available for hire to sing at weddings, parties and functions.

The Stirling S Factor winner from last year is currently working on an album that still needs some mastering and polishing.

Her mother, Shareesa Bowles, said she is extremely proud of Tyra and wants her to further her career in singing.

“We would like to ask the public to help sponsor her to get to Orlando. She will be doing a lot of fundraising on her own before she goes off to Orlando next year July,” Shareesa said.
