Church prays for matrics

THE Methodist Church of Southern Africa in Zwelitsha Township last Sunday held their annual prayer service for all matriculants in Zwelitsha and surrounding areas ahead of the final exams.

Rev Fikile Makhananda held the service for about 300 people, including the matric pupils from Hector Petersen Senior Secondary and Thembalabantu High School in Zwelitsha and other schools from King William’s Town and Bhisho, teachers, department of education officials and parents.

One of the church members, Sisa Mhlaba, said he wished the children had a peaceful final exams. He said as parents they ask God to listen to their prayers for guidance over the matriculants and that they stay away from bad elements.

Makhananda said they must choose the right things that lead to success and not to exclude God from their lives through the ups and downs.

“We must welcome the Word of God in good and bad. We also pray you get bright futures through the Lord. Have faith and God can help all of us, including the parents,” Makhananda said.
