THE annual Wild Coast Jikeleza Festival takes place on August 17 at Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve and runs until August 25.
The festival is being organised as a week-long event rather than a weekend-only occasion after a significant growth in attendance.
Festival chairperson Jennifer Woods said the festival, currently in its 17th year, was one of their biggest marketing tools.
“Our decision to make the festival a full week of activities is based on not only on creating a change, but also to showcase more of the route and the amazing establishments we have to offer,” Woods said.
The weekend programme will kick-off with an open-air cinema and night market, a family picnic and games. There is also a mountain bike trail, a surf contest and a sandcastle building competition.
Woods said festival-goers could also expect a lot of fun and excitement at the Table 58 night run.
“We’ll have our regular closing-off weekend at Inkwenkwezi with a full day of activities, craft stalls and the game drives,” she said.
She said there would be a fantastic musical headliner by Durban musician Majozi as well as an after-party to wind down the festival.
“The after-party is something new and we’ve managed to secure Ard Matthews of Just Jinger fame to entertain the crowd,” Woods said.
