Spreading love through giving

The spirit of giving and spreading love comes in many forms such as Solomon Onwona, a teacher at East London Science College.

Onwona made a kind gesture by contributing much-needed clothing and toiletries to Ethembeni Old Age Home in Mdantsane and Enkazimulweni Ncedanani Life Care Centre in Duncan Village.

“I was taught compassion by the examples set by my father, such as giving to the less less fortunate and helping where you can,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of Ethembeni, Ntombekhaya Nyegane said that this gesture was unexpected.

“We’re so happy because of this big gesture. The people are often forgotten here and it’s sad because we end up burying them ourselves,” Nyegane said.

She added that the warm jackets have come in handy and “something as simple as soap is needed”.

He has extended this culture of giving to the learners at his school.

“I went to Enkazimulweni with four learners where we donated some clothes and groceries to the centre on September 1,” Onwona said.

Onwona wants to spread the love and care further and urges other to help in as much as they can.

“I pray that God will bless me with things that will make an impact on those in need. I also urge people to donate directly to NGO’s in need,” he added.
