Manyano Youth Development Drive (MYDD) will host be hosting their second annual sports awards on tomorrow at the NU1 Community Hall in Mdantsane.
The main purpose of the event is to motivate, encourage and honour young children involved who have been playing in different sporting codes in for their local teams.
The drive was established in 2016 and mainly focuses mainly on helping develop the youth’s sporting skills. It focuses on the following codes rugby, netball, soccer and boxing.
“We want to prevent the youth from turning to substance abuse or criminal activities.
“We are grooming them for a better tomorrow, so that one day they can be sport professionals, sport personalities and role models to others,” MYDD’s Siphumle Bangani said.
“With these awards, we want to gain the interest of the young people who are not playing any sport.
Bangani said they had engaged with coaches of different sporting codes that would will be honoured on the day, who would assist them in choosing the most deserving most deserving recipients.
Supporters could expect “a lot of fun and entertainment”, with live performances from local artists, Bangani said. they will be having live performances from local artists.
