Sports development and encouraging sportsmanship are some of the main goals of NGO Lubanzi iQhayiya, which was launched last Saturday at Parkside, East London.
Founded by Tina Somzana, the NGO focuses on is focused towards sports development in under-privileged primary schools in the BCM area.
“We want to provide them with equal opportunities in sports to groom their talents and make them better sportsmen,” Somzana said.
The event took place at AW Barnes Primary School, where activities included tug-of-war, six-a-side soccer and netball matches.
The NGO looks to also maintain sports fields and courts at in various schools.
“Our main school sports are soccer, cricket, netball and athletics. We’re also looking to adopt 200 children into our programme this year,” she said.
Lubanzi will host their next event on June 16, with where an inter-schools soccer, cricket and netball and cricket tournament.
