MUSICAL HIGHS: The KZN Youth Orchestra will once again grace East London with its melodic tunes at the Guild Theatre on Wednesday June 26.
The hour-long show is called ‘KwaZulu-Natal Youth Orchestra presents Contrasts’ and audiences can expect pieces of some well-known classical favourites including ‘The Birthday Cantata’ by Bach, and ‘O Fortuna’ from Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’.
This year, the young artists will be joined by international saxophonist sensation Andrew Young as a guest artist who is billed to perform pieces including ‘What a Wonderful World’, ‘Havana’ and ‘Pata Pata’.
The orchestra then moves onto Makhanda for the National Arts Festival for four concerts. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available at Computicket at R100 for general access and R80 for pensioners and students.
