Rising Stars ultimately won, while runners-up King Spurs walked away with R1,500.
Proceeds from the tournament went towards six local soup kitchens.
“The [food] hampers were purchased at discounted prices from Nick’s Foods SuperSPAR with money collected at the gate,” said tournament convener Sydney Tom.
“The soup kitchens are Good Samaritans, Assemblies of God, Uniting Reformed Church, Palace of Hope, Acorn Valley Soup Kitchen and Plateau Extension Soup Kitchen, who all received hampers of samp, beans, soya mince and meat bones.”
Good Samaritans coordinator Lucinda Thompson was ecstatic on receiving her food parcel.
“It was unexpected. and I never imagined we would to also be amongst the beneficiaries. Thank you so much,” she said.
