Local Christian radio station Izwilethemba FM entertained people and cleaned the area around Gilwell Mall as part of their 67 minutes during International Nelson Mandela Day.
“We spent the day with our community entertaining them, praying with them and also giving them words of encouragement,” said radio presenter Thembelani Nunge.
“We never miss this campaign and as a Christian community radio station we don’t only serve people spiritually, but also socially.
“In 2018, Last year we spent our Mandela Day at one of the wellness centres in our neighbourhood feeding women, men and children,” Nune said.
“To me, Mandela Day means freedom and liberty, but above all else, it means we should be spreading love all over.
“To us, Mandela Day is every day, as we are a Christian radio station with a vision of healing the nation through love, as Madiba did,” said acting station manager Shona Mopp.
