Flamboyance and fabulous costumes will take centre stage when the Eden Through the Ages cabaret extravaganza takes place from August 20 and 21 at the Guild Theatre in East London.

The drag cabaret has been around for a number of years, incorporating a pageant for the LGBTI community in past shows.

Organiser Sally Prins said the show promised to bring a lot of fun and foot tapping.

“We have one or two old show-stoppers as well as new songs to cater for everyone.

“The songs are from the 80’s right up until now,” Prins said.

The show is not just about the drama and costumes, but also for a worthy cause.

“From all the tickets sold, R20 from each ticket will go to Ross Helping Hands NPO. We have lost a lot of people over the years and this will go towards helping others,” she said.

The NPO assists those affected by cancer and their families.

Prins has been entertaining the city for 15 years and has directed several shows at her club, Club Eden, the Guild Theatre and Arts Theatre.

The show serves as her last hurrah before retirement.

The show will also incorporate belly-dancers from the Kore Group.

It starts at 7pm, tickets are R150 per person and are available from Computicket or at the theatre.
