Runners braved the scorching heat and humidity on Saturday to take part in the 46th Discovery Surfers Challenge.
This year marked a special moment for the event. For the first time, the 5km route was opened to all ages.
Of course, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the 17.5km which saw runners start at the Kwelera River mouth, run on through the Gonubie River, around Bonza Bay to the Nahoon River, and then finish at the Nahoon Lifesavers Shack.
It was a tough slog but in the end, Vusumzi Zondo emerged as the overall winner as well as the winner in the Mens category with a time of 01:07:28.
Coming in second place in the Mens category was Bulelani Mgubo with a time of 01:12:05, followed by Simphiwe Majiki at 01:12:48.
