As the TruFM Radio Presenter Search competition winds down after weeks of voting, the community has spoken with Ntombozuko Balintulo who has clinched a top two spot.
The 23 yer old East London local hopes to have her dream of being in the media broadcasting industry realised.
“I’ve always known that my future is with radio, because I have been raised by my grandmother who would listen to radio shows and eventually as I grew older, I imagined myself in the studio doing what I do best now and that is presenting,” she said.
Balintulo is currently a studying towards Public Relations Management at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) and has a Versatile Broadcasting Certificate under her belt from the same institution.
According to her, the versatile broadcasting certificate has given her a good foundation of theoretical and practical radio knowledge and has taught her more about radio and how to interact with different publics.
“Online radio has taught me to fuse the airwaves with social media as I stream my shows on my Facebook page dedicated to the competition to convincing people to vote for me,” she said.
Having auditioned in August 2019, Balintulo’s determination has shone through as she feels as it came natural to her personality.
“I have knocked on every door getting the necessary exposure as a radio presenter. I first volunteered at Mdantsane FM where I had a popular weekend show. From then on I went to Keith Ngesi Online Radio and the Walter Sisulu University Online radio in 2017 while I was studying broadcasting,” Balintulo said.
The winner will get a year contract to work on TruFM as a radio presenter and R10, 000. Voting lines are open until 3pm today and those who have voted the most, stand a chance to win R, 5000.
